Sassy's Studs

June 18th, 2014 is the official release date for Sassy's Studs, book one in the Vegas Bound series.

This is my 29th book. That means the next thing I write will be the dirty 30. The big 3-0. I can't believe the crazy ride I've been on since Sweet Dreams came out in 2008.

I have made the most amazing friends and talked with the sweetest fans. I bought a house, got married and had a baby (who will be 4 years old in August.) I've watched my little girl grow into a sixteen year old woman. I got promoted at the day job, became an editor for a fabulous publishing company and somewhere in all of that wrote 28 other books.

Anyone who knows me understands that I write in bursts. I can go months without writing a single word and then BAM, a book in a day. A novel in a weekend. It makes no sense to anyone, least of all myself, but it's how it has been for the last six years and I don't see it changing any time soon. Believe me, I would take slow and steady any day. But …

My weekend away

I am writing this blog from a Big Boy in West Branch, Michigan. Also known as just "Up North." I came up here all by myself, no kids or husband to get some writing done at my in-law's cabin. It's quiet. Very quiet. Too quiet.

Last night I stepped outside to smoke and it was pitch black. I mean, ink f'ng black. You could see every star in the sky...and nothing else. I realized that my cigarette was like a beacon in the dark and if there were zombies around I would be an easy target. I freaked myself out so badly that I dropped the butt to the ground and ran, yes RAN, back into the house, flicking every lock on every door.

Yes, I am well aware how absolutely ridiculous that was. But I am alone, in the middle of nowhere, in the pitch black of northern Michigan and as an author I have a ridiculously active imagination. What the hell else was going to happen?

So now, in the zombie free light of day, I can relax and bask in the fact that I wrote a new book yesterday. Y…

Let's chat about the muse shall we? Or should I say Muse. She is definitely a proper noun.

My muse can be the most wonderful little sprite you've ever met. Then again, she can be a downright bitch when she wants to be as well.

Right now I am planning a trip to northern Michigan to spend an entire weekend writing. Which I've barely done this year. So I'm pretty excited. I have a WIP that I've been writing in disjointed scenes and my plan is to pull the whole thing together and make it into a real live book.

If there is time left, I also plan to write the second book in the Grayson Family trilogy with Stiff Rain Press. That story has been rattling around in my head since I wrote Kiss Me You Animal so it would be nice to get that finished as well.

So as you can see I have a plan. A real, honest to goodness plan. Finish the untitled WIP, that will hopefully also have a title by the end of the weekend, and at least start on my sequel. So imagine my surprise and annoyanc…

Spring Cleaning

I have been far too lazy to be bothered cleaning my house, so I have decided to clean up my website. Since I've made my blog my main website, I figured I'd better do some reconstructive surgery to make it more appealing and easy to navigate.

I realize that every year I say 'this is my year.' But this year, I don't feels different. I feel as if I'm ready to prep to make next year MY YEAR. I have so many ideas rolling around, and have just not had the ambition to actually work on any of them. But a change is in the air, and it's not just the Michigan weather.

My kids are fantastic, my marriage is stronger than ever, and my day job is actually pretty swell 89% of the time. The only thing that seems in chaos lately is my writing career. It's May and I have not finished a single book this year. Everything comes in bits and phrases. Disjointed scenes that get typed randomly into One Note so I don't lose them, but nothing fits together yet. It&…
