Reading for Pleasure

Good morning darlings! Happy Sunday.

This weekend I have rediscovered a passion that I have neglected for far too long. Reading for pleasure. It's common knowledge that good writers are voracious readers. But, we are also busy as hell most of the time, and too often the first thing to fall from our to do list is to sit down and read for hour long stretches.

This is an absolute shame, because reading is what made most of us long to be writers in the first place. A book, an author, a story that called to our inner crazy and said to it "why aren't you doing this too?"

I've had a lot of influences in my life. One of the biggest may be surprising, as Stephen King and I couldn't have more different genres we write in. But it wasn't about the content. It was about doing what is most loved, what speaks to us, and doing it prolifically and well every time. This is the connection I have with the world's leading horror writer…

And in writing news...

Now and Then, the 5th book in the Touch of Gray series, has been turned into my editor at Resplendence Publishing.

I'm so excited. This one was really difficult for me to write. It delves into the story about the Grayson parents and the boys when they were kids. It was a pretty emotional story for me and I think that's why it took me so long to finish it. It had been sitting, half completed, for months. Finally, the ending clicked for me and I wrote that then went back and fleshed out the middle.

I had planned to do a post about my writing plans later this month, but I guess now seems as good a time as any.

If you've been following my posts, you've seen that I've set a lofty goal for myself of publishing 10 books this year. I know I can do it, because I've done it before. It's more about discipline than anything else. I've already got two of them done and slated for publication, so that leaves eight more. I can totally rock that schedule.

On February 8h…

Welcome back! In my last post I started to go on and on about my Bullet Journal and how amazing it is. Today I am continuing with that theme, and will share my monthly pages with you. These are the main focus of a bullet journal. Tracking tasks and appointments, birthdays, habits, digging into your goals. The stuff I shared before is the fun, fluff of the journal that makes it so great to play with. Today, I will share what makes the journal so necessary and functional for your every day life.

Quick Recap
On a day to day basis, this is all I need to use my journal. The Journal, a ruler and a pen. I prefer the Leuchtturm1917, with a Sharpie Pen (NOT MARKER), and a small metal ruler. These three items are enough to create an entire Bullet Journal. Yes, washi tape is super fun and colored pencils make everything pop, and of course stickers are just the bees knees. But none of that is necessary to make an awesome, FUNCTIONAL journal. And that is the rea…

Bullet Journal Joy

Okay. I've been promising for ages to share my Bullet Journal with you guys. This post seemed so overwhelming every time I thought about it that I just kept putting it off. But this little bundle of joy has been so life changing for me, I wanted to share it with you all so you can see if it might work for you as well.

I want to warn you right off the bat, if you go looking at Pinterest and Instagram pages about Bullet Journaling, you WILL get overwhelmed too. There are people out there who are insanely talented at doodles and coordinating and tracking every minute detail of their days. The absolute beauty of a Bullet Journal is that it can be whatever you want or need it to be.

New Year - Set Goals not Resolutions

Happy 2017 everyone. Let's just say, I'm glad to see the end of 2016. What a ballsack of a year that turned out to be. Personally and professionally, it just seemed to suck at every turn.

This year, I want to turn my focus internally, to ensure that regardless of what happens out there, in my home, we have nothing but happiness.

I know I've mentioned my Bullet Journal in the past, but this year I will really be putting that bitch through her paces. I decided to start with fresh journal, which is not required or even encouraged in the BuJo community, but I felt it was important for me.

I am using the Leuchtturm1917 in this beautiful sunshine yellow color. I will be doing the promised full on BuJo breakdown later this week so I won't go into it too much now. For the moment, I want to focus on one of my favorite pages so far in order to get to my main point of this post...and this year. GOALS!!!!!!

I don't like 'resolutions.'…
